Promotional days for PDO Chios Mastiha in the USA, under the program ‘‘European PDO Products: Precious Drops’’

100 promotional days took place in the USA introducing Chios Mastiha products to the American consumers.

More than 19.000 consumers of food stores and supermarkets in the United States were acquainted with the PDO Chios Mastiha products. Chios Mastiha was first introduced in New York, in Republic of Booza, a new shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which serves traditional Middle Eastern ice cream, known for its elastic properties, containing Chios Mastiha. The trained team of promoters was educating the public about PDO Chios Mastiha history, culinary applications, by distributing Chios Mastiha samples and leaflets, explaining their ice cream key ingredient. Chios Mastiha was also introduced in supermarkets and food stores offering gourmet, organic and healthy products, in different locations in the USA, such as Rosauers (Montana & Idaho), Trader Joe’s (Utah), Corti Brothers (California), and other locations in New York and San Francisco. During the promotional days, a customized stand was set up and a trained team of promoters was offering an informative brochure along with samples of Chios Mastiha. The promoters were informing about the meaning of the PDO stamp and the benefits of Mastiha consumption. The consumers appreciated the products and were very interested in being informed about the high standards of EU products and EU quality logos.

The event took place in the framework of the program “European PDO Products: Precious Drops”, financed with aid from the European Union and Greece.
